Pub Street After the sun goes down, the focus falls to 'Pub Street' and Pub Street alleys. Named for the numerous pubs that line Street 8 near the Old Market, Pub Street sports as many restaurants and shops as pubs. It all began in 1998 when Angkor What? Bar opened its doors - the lone pub on an otherwise quiet street. These days Pub Street is packed end to end. The narrow connecting alleys and passages have also filled with businesses, but offer a much more relaxed, pedestrians-only ambiance. The whole area is the center of nightlife in Siem Reap with most places staying open until at least midnight and couple running until near dawn.
Located in the heart of the city nearby to the beautiful Siem Reap river and various markets, Pub Street is where backpackers from all over the world gather and dance the night away. It can be thought of as a more tame version of Bangkok’s Khaosan Road, but just as fun nonetheless. Come nighttime, the road is blocked off to traffic, making it a relaxing and safe place to stroll, dance, and let loose. With a wide variety of culinary treats ranging from Khmer specialties to Western favorites offered in food trucks, 50 cent drought beers, and crispy insect munchies to indulge in, you can spend your entire night on this lively street and never run out of things to do.
Old Market area Stretching from the river to the night markets on Sivutha Blvd, The Old Market (Phsar Chas) including Pub Street, the Pub Street alleys is the dining, shopping and nightlife center of town. Once you are there, everything is within walking distance. Nearby, both Sok San Road and the Hup Guan Street ‘Kandal Village’ are growing. Sok San Road now has dozens of budget-friendly business, guesthouses, bars and restaurants, and Hup Guan Street is seeing a growing number eateries, bars and boutique shops.
